For those of you that know me, know that my husband, Brandon, is currently serving in the United States Army, and that my dad honorably served over 20 years in the United States Air Force. Because of my upbringing, I have always had a patriotic spirit and love for America. But, I am just starting to understand the many, many sacrifices that our US soldiers and their families make to keep the United States the "Land of Liberty". The current war, just like past wars, are leaving homes without fathers and mothers. Wives and husbands are left at home without physical and emotional support. Our soldiers are missing their child's first step, first day of school, and their children's teenage years of dating, driving, and playing sports. My younger brother, Jonathan, missed the birth of his first child. He was able to hold his sweat little girl for 3 days and then he had to say goodbye for 1 year. His little girl will be crawling or walking by the time he returns home. His story is NOT uncommon for our service men and women. I have created a "My Hero" section in my portfolio in behalf of our soldiers for their service and sacrifice. Jonathan, I am proud of you! You are my hero!
